Stamped Concrete FAQ
Typically 25–30 years with proper maintenance. The key variable is resealing — UV exposure breaks down the sealer coat, which exposes the color hardener to weathering. Stay on top of your reseal schedule (every 2–3 years) and the color and texture will hold.
All concrete cracks — the question is whether those cracks are controlled or random. Control joints are cut at planned intervals so shrinkage cracks along those lines instead of across your patio. Montgomery County’s clay soils add movement, so proper subgrade prep is critical.
No — stamping requires wet, freshly poured concrete. If you have an existing slab you want to give a stamped look, a stamped overlay is the right option. Overlays are applied over the old surface at 1/4” to 3/4” thickness and then stamped and colored.
